Who are our beneficiaries?

Who donates foodstuffs?
The Food Donating sector contacts companies that produce or market foodstuffs requesting them, mainly, to donate those products that they cannot sell for different reasons, but which are fit for human consumption. These reasons could be an excess of production; very close expiration date; packaging mistakes, among others. These companies are also invited to include us in their production Chain.
Another way of receiving foodstuffs is through actions oriented to that end, such as the 鈥Annual Food Collection鈥 and the 鈥2 trips x 1 food item鈥 campaign.

What type of food do they receive?
We receive both perishable and non-perishable foodstuffs, because we have a warehouse fit for classification and storage and two cold chambers: one for refrigerated products, and the other for frozen foods.

What sort of food is needed most?
The foodstuffs that are most in demand are: milk; oil; sugar; noodles and rice. Likewise, perishable products such as meat; fruit and vegetables are greatly in demand because of their nutritional value.

How is food delivered?
The food is delivered at our warehouse. Every month we contact the organizations and feeding centres to offer them the food we have, and agree on the amount and the day and time table in which they will come and fetch it.

What does your funding consist of?
Part of the resources for the upkeep of the operation stem from contributions by the organizations and feeding centres themselves, who pay when they fetch the food from the Foundation鈥檚 warehouse. This is an average of 0.50 cents per kilo of food.
The rest of the funds come from individual and company donations, as well as from different revenue actions and events which are carried out under the coordination of the Resource Development sector (e.g. Annual Dinner; Polo Helmet Auction; among others).
