From the Fundación Banco de Alimentos we seek to establish a link between those who need help and those who can provide it.

How We Do That

Our job consists in distributing food so that it is delivered to organizations, feeding centers; old people’s homes; schools and day-care centers, among others.

From the Fundación we provide an effective solution for those who are afflicted by hunger, through transparent management and efficient food donations that we then collect at our warehouses where they are classified and handed out so that they arrive at the table of thousands of Argentines.

The Steps of Our Work

• We apply procedures that enable us to be an efficient link between companies and private people who want to help those who need it.
• We have built up a work team of over 1,100 people including staff and volunteers, who combine passion and professionalism to carry out our mission.
• We receive food donations and store them in an 840 m² warehouse that has a cold chamber and another for frozen food.
• We have the necessary logistics to be able to classify, store and distribute food rapidly.
• We generate tools that enable each donor to know for certain what the destination of his/her donation is.
• We have a computerized system of stock management and food expiration dates.
• This system issues a report that is sent to every food donor once the merchandise has been delivered, which includes a detail of each of the institutions that have received those foodstuffs; the quantity of Kilos and the amount of people who were the beneficiaries of those products.
• We provide an efficient and economic system for relocating excess production and marketing surpluses.
• We follow up on the institutions that receive donations through our Fundación.

Why Our Work Is Important

Because through such simple actions, we cooperate with the food needs of over 480 organizations and feeding centers that feed 78.000 people, of which 80% are children and adolescents.

But we need to do more. Today there are 300 organizations on a waiting list that meet all the requirements needed to become a part of our chain, but whom we cannot help because of a lack of food donations and resources.

Making a Difference: Quality Management System

With the support of Det Norske Veritas, in 2007 we certified the Quality Management System under the ISO 9001:2000 Standard that guarantees the effectiveness and efficiency of processes by means of monitoring; measuring; analysis and ongoing revision. Thus we can assure donors that all their donations are dealt with by meeting the highest quality standards.

In 2008 we extended the certification to include the System in the areas of Resource Communication and Development. From that moment on, all our areas meet the quality standards established by this International Standard.
